Training Needs for Agricultural Extension its in the Field of Integrated Pest Control of the Red Palm Weevil in Beheira Governorate

The research aimed to determine the degree of training needs for agricultural extensionists to know the recommendations of integrated pest control of the red palm weevil, their appreciation of its importance, and advising farmers about it, and to determine the relationship between some of the independent variables of the respondents, and the degree of training needs for them to know the recommendations of integrated pest control of the red palm weevil, their appreciation of its importance, and advising farmers about it, and identifying the obstacles facing the respondents while advising farmers about the recommendations of integrated pest control of the red palm weevil, and their proposals to overcome them.
    Data was collected from 140 agricultural extension respondents in Beheira Governorate districts during the months of October and November 2023 through personal interviews with the respondents at their workplace in agricultural departments and agricultural cooperative societies using the questionnaire form prepared for this purpose. The questionnaires were transcribed and statistically analyzed. Tables, frequencies, percentages, weighted average, Pearson correlation coefficient, and chi-square were used to analyze the data and display the results.
The most important results were as follows:
-It became clear from the results that 46.4% of the respondents did not receive training courses in the field of integrated pest control of the red palm weevil,77.1% were raised in rural areas.
-37.1% of them had a moderate training needs to know the recommendations of integrated pest control of the red palm weevil in general, and that 47.1% of them have a high training needs to appreciate the importance of the recommendations for integrated control of the palm weevil pest in general, and 46.4% of them have a high training needs to guide farmers on the recommendations of integrated pest control of the palm weevil in general.
- There is an negative correlation relationship at a significance level of 0.05 between both the number of training courses and the duration of serving in extension work and the degree of the respondents' training need to advise farmers on the recommendations of integrated pest control of the red palm weevil. The research ended with a number of recommendations derived from its findings.
