Challenges Facing the Digital Transformation of the Egyptian Agricultural Sector and the Prospective Extension Role in Overcoming Them through the Agricultural Experts' Vision

This research aims to identify the major challenges facing the digital transformation in the Egyptian agricultural sector, the experts' point of view with experience in this field on the relative importance of these challenges, as well as identifying the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats facing the digital transformation in the Egyptian agricultural sector using SWOT analysis, in addition to develop a vision of the prospects for and future of digital transformation in the Egyptian agricultural sector, and a vision of the prospects for digital transformation in the Egyptian agricultural sector was developed, as well as the expected extension role in it.
This research was documented by a survey was conducted to determine the importance of what was collected from the challenges through an electronic questionnaire containing eleven challenges that were documented from the writings mentioned by experts in this field. (36) Experts responded and completed the answer to this questionnaire, on the basis of which these challenges were rearranged according to their importance from their point of view. SWOT analysis that decision-makers can benefit from in taking what is necessary to accelerate the digital transformation process in the Egyptian agricultural sector.
The most important results of this research were:
- 89% of experts believe that there is a severe lack of understanding among small farmers of the concept of digital transformation in the agricultural sector. And 86% of them mentioned the difficulty of small farmers being able to keep up with large farmers in absorbing digital agricultural technology.
- As for the SWOT analysis, the results showed that there are six strengths and six weaknesses, in addition to the opportunities and threats. The future of digital transformation in the Egyptian agricultural sector.
- there were eleven opportunities to advance the Egyptian agricultural sector, including: improving agricultural resource management.
