The impact of extension fields on the development of farmers' knowledge and implementation of the extension recommendations for the maize crop in Beheira Governorate

The research aimed to determine the impact of the extension fields on developing the knowledge and implementation of maize farmers of the extension recommendations of the crop, and to identify the extension activities provided by the extension fields to the experimental group farmers, Obstacles to the farmers' implementation of these recommendations, and their proposals to solve them.
The research was conducted on 100 respondents who grew the extension fields of the maize crop, and like them a sample of farmers with the same crop far from the extension fields.Data have been collected using a questionnaireduring January 2023, and have been statistically analyzed.
The most important results were:
1- That all the respondents of the experimental group had a high level of knowledge of the extension recommendations for the crop, compared to 18% of the respondents of the control group, whose level of knowledge of these recommendations was high.
2- That (90%) of the farmers of the experimental group had a high level of implementation of the extension recommendations for the crop, compared to 15% of the respondents of the control group whose level of implementation was high.
3- There are significant differences between the average degrees of knowledge and implementation of the respondents in favor of the experimental group.
4- The most important obstacle preventing the respondents from the experimental group when implementing the recommendations related to the crop are the increase in labor wages and the increase in seed prices.
